Got new lounge membership card last week.

Probably because I only reached gold a few weeks ago. (Or did any other golds/plats receive one?)

But anyway for anyone that wants to see what there like :

As a gold VA, Lounge membership is part of the deal and shows on the Velocity site when you log in or when your Gold card is swiped at the Lounge.
I don't have a separate Lounge card
 
yes, thats what i thought. must be just a lag in the correspondence between the systems
 
If you are a paid Lounge member you will be given a refund of the balance from your Gold qual date
 
i paid for the membership with points, will i still get a partial points refund?
 
The T&C 's mention a pro-rata refund. I assume this would apply to points as well as $

just checked the T&C and that is not the case

"j) Virgin Australia does not provide refunds or extensions as a result of paid Lounge Members becoming eligible for Lounge access by virtue of their status in the Velocity program."

Considering I was silver for only 6 weeks, in which time I paid (points) for membership thinking I would not reach gold, and did. Very cash grabbing. Kinda like there goes 40,000 points...

theoretically a silver membership has a maximum number of visits since someone flying that much will eventually reach gold.

You should ask them if the paid membership goes "on ice" like it does on QF so that should a member drop below SG the QP membership is re-instated for the paid period remaining

Yes...VA started doing this and then moved to refunds. It looks like they have enhanced it even further :mad:
 
From a business perspective, by doing this, wouldn't you run the risk of deterring people from ever paying for lounge membership? I know understand with QF who are borderline Golds often pay for membership, to fill in the odd lean years where they don't fly enough for some reason.

Not sure many would pay for it, if there is a good chance of it just becoming redundant altogether. Would be interesting to see how many people stop paying for memberships when this policy becomes more well known.

I received an automatic prorate refund of paid membership when I achieved gold in sep 2012.
