Hi guys

Just wondering (and apologies if this has been answered but I am pressed for time), am I able to access the lounge if a partner is flying Virgin that day even though I am not flying?

thank you !

If your partner is a SG(gold) or WP(platinum) then they can guest you in. If they are silver then They should have 2 lounge passes available.

According to the rules then no, however it's been known that they will allow you both in (but that may have been just for WP's)

It all depends on your partner's status.

VA does not have anytime access for there lounges.

As a SG, I have experienced lounge access being granted when I've taken my "red" family members to the airport for their VA flights (without me) so the answer I believe is yes.

I think from memory, the T&Cs state that A boarding pass for a flight that day must be presented as opposed to YOUR boarding pass for a flight that day.

Like anything YMMV.

Too late, looks like VA read your mind and change the website... :(

From the Virgin Aus Lounge Website
If you are a Virgin Australia lounge member or Velocity Platinum or Gold Member, present YOUR membership card, and YOUR flight itinerary (or boarding pass) – for onward domestic travel with Virgin Australia on the day – for access to the Virgin Australia lounge.

That said, it is well known that Plats and Gold can often access the lounge without a boarding pass where there is a legitimate reason, such as taking a friend or family member to the airport.

Personally, i've never been asked for a boarding pass since they removed anytime access - I only show my card

The MEL lounge angels are very, very welcoming and accommodating - I doubt it will be a problem outside of peak times provided someone has a VA boarding pass.

I guested entry to a friend that was on a qantas flight into the virgin lounge the other day at Sydney. He was flying to Melbourne at 5.30pm, I was flying to Brisbane at 3.30 so left him there happily nibbling and sipping away. I am platinum he is nothing (he will beg to differ). Upon entry I just said he was a guest and they said no problem and didn't ask for id, boarding passes or anything...

Just as a data point, I flew QF today SYD-BNE and my wife was flying VA SYD-MEL. Her flight was about 1.5hrs before mine. I asked if it would be okay to come in as my wife is flying VA, but I had to fly elsewhere. They asked for her BP and my card (I actually handed them my old Silver one, as I forgot to put my new Gold one in my wallet), and it wasn't a problem.

This was even during a relatively busy period (0600), so I imagine the a boarding pass re (rather than your boarding pass) must hold.

It was nice, we got to have a coffee date before she had to flit off to her flight and I flitted off to the QP to wait for mine. I must say I'm really enjoying the VA service since the switch from QF, once you take the QF blinkers, they run rings around them.

As I said - they're very accommodating. Used arrivals access a few times - never had a problem.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on possible lounge access for my upcoming flight. I've just upgraded my BNE-CHC flexi to premium with points and am currently V.Silver. Will my PE ticket entitle access to the Koru lounge in BNE?
The SC from this flight will put me onto Gold for access on my return flight :)
