I'm a Qantas Platinum/One World Emerald. In June I will be travelling on a One World ATW ticket with my wife and 14 year old grand daughter. Flying with QF, AY and AA. I know that my Emerald status entitles me to take one travelling companion into a lounge, but what about a second? I can hardly tell my grand daughter to stand outside at the door, and I wouldn't even dare make such a suggestion to my wife. Do I have any entitlement, or do I just rely on the good will of the desk attendant?

While your lounge entitlement is for one guest, many lounges are generous with permitting access to family members travelling together. I have found AA to be particularly generous in this. However, some are notorious for abiding by the published rules, such as BA lounge in London.

I was going to say for QF lounges atleast you could get 2 in the business lounge... but thats only domestic i see.
Fly - The Qantas Club - Lounge Access

Your flying economy i am guessing otherwise you would have access anyway.

I would echo what NM said, often it is possible to get 2 guests in. Some lounges wont, some will. Also if they wont let you in the first lounge you can try the business lounge, and if say CX wont let you in HKG then try the QF lounge. Or maybe you could be sneaky if you really all want a shower and let one guest in say the QF lounge and the other 2 of you go to the other lounge.

In HKG, The Wing has two entrances available for the FLounge ;).

In November I will be flying out of LHR with two companions and I will be SG by then. What's the best way to get two people in to the BA Lounge?

I thought of taking one person in and then leaving and coming back a little while later with the second person. If any questions are asked I could say the first person left.
On attaining SG do you get any extra guest passes like when you reach PS?

As a warning, I did find out recently that the Sydney F lounge can see if you've previously entered that day.

Scenario: I enter, advise the person on the desk (for later reference if needed) that a friend will be turning up later.
About 30 mins later, friend calls and I leave to meet them.
We both re-swipe our boarding passes at the front counter.
Staffer - "Do you already have a guest in the lounge?".
No problems when I explained that I didn't.

Not really sure what other lounges also have that sort of visibility of entrants.

BA Lounges, especially at LHR, are well known for correctly imposing lounge access rules. They are most unlikely to allow you to be exception to the published rules.

The best way to get additional people into the lounge is for one of them to have their own lounge access entitlement, such as purchasing a Qantas Club membership. I would not hold out any expectation that you will be permitted more guests than are allowed under the published lounge access terms and conditions.

I'll get a guest pass for becoming Silver last week so I guess I can use that. I'll be turning SG in a couple of weeks, do I get a guest pass for that too? Or is just the complimentary QC?
I became Silver just over a week ago, any idea how long it takes for a new card to be sent out?

No, you get complementary Qantas Club membership which allows you to take a guest into the lounge anytime you are visiting the lounge, so no need for the complementary invitations that are provided to Silver members.

I would expect 4-6 weeks for the kit to arrive.

You only get a guest pass when attaining/retaining silver status ; no passes are issued for attaining/retaining gold or platinum status

My father turned PS a few weeks ago, and it only took 1.5 weeks for the kit to arrive (to PER) so YMMV! :)

Mine arrived today - It took 1.5 weeks to get to me as well! Yippee!

Funny thing is that I'll only be Silver for a couple fo weeks and then I turn SG while in the US.

I see you already have your Silver kit. As a general rule the kits for Silver, Gold and Platinum arrive within 2 weeks, Australian address, of attaining status.

We are also hoping for a good lounge reception this month.Travelling with 2 family members-we are in J as an add on to our DONE4,they in Y.Now I can get 1 in as a QP member. My wife although she has 990 SCs falls foul of the 4 segment on QF rule so wont officially be SG until these 3 sectors are over.Another area where the Aadvantage scheme is much easier.

Out of interest, what does it say to her here :-

On the other hand - when flying J on a Oneworld airlines (with no status) are you limited to visiting the lounge of the airline with which you are travelling? I know they can turn us away and send us to another lounge if it is full, but just curious what J travel allows in terms of access to other OW lounges, as the OW site seems to be a little vague about it...

We are in ICN about to start our DONE4, and as I'm doing the AA candy thief challenge, I won't have status until the completion of our flight into JFK (nor will I have a card until we return home, but that's another matter).

We are on JL (AA codeshare) from ICN-NRT, then AA from NRT-JFK. Are we only allowed to use the JL lounge in ICN and AA lounge in NRT, or do we have some additional flexibility?

When travelling in Business Class or First Class on any OneWorld operated and marketed flight, you can use any OneWorld Business Class or first Class lounge respectively.
