Hey all, my mother and I will be travelling on Virgin Australia economy from Sydney to Bali next month. My mum is a KrisFlyer Gold member and I'm just wondering if we will be able to visit a lounge through the VA/SQ partnership? Will we be able to make use of any other perks like priority check in and boarding? Thanks!

I'm not convinced, as that says "VA Operated" lounges, and VA don't operate an international lounge. I do wonder if the SQ lounge would let the OP in when flying VA.

Actually, good point – ignored the international part.

It's a really messy little situation. You have (at least?) two Star Alliance lounges (SQ, NZ), both VA partners, but you don't fulfil the 'travelling on *A' criteria.

Honestly I'm not sure actually.

Priority check-in and baggage should be fine though.

Haha you replied just as I was replying the same thing! If it's the SilverKris lounge in Sydney hopefully there might be a better chance of entry with a KF Gold... Or maybe not..

I guess I'll find out in a few weeks time anyway..

Let us know how you go, and if you can, give your feedback to both SQ and VA if it doesn't work – it's a really coughpy hole in their 'network' if they don't give you lounge access.

Yup that's the issue with VA's "virtual" alliance. subichow do let us know what happens.

So update is no-go. For this particular flight, the business class and velocity elite were to use the Air NZ lounge, not SQ lounge so no sweet talking some entry into a non-Virgin operated lounge. ;) Went to Amex lounge instead. Funny way to allow domestic access and not international some how. Maybe Virgin should open up their own international lounge!

That's insane. If VA was a part of *A you could have accessed it under the *G rules, but no – they're "partners".

Please send a complaint to SQ!
