Hello all,

I'm QF Gold and I'm traveling to Europe soon with Emirates and I have attached my SKYWARDS FF number on my ticket. I'm doing this because I will be able to get Silver with EK on this trip.

My question is does anyone know DEFINITIVELY if I can access the J class lounge in Dubai? I spoke to reps from Qantas and Emirates who have said I cannot unless I attach my QF number - however apparently there has been a rule change.

One representative from EK said that they received an internal memo (dated 18-Sep 2013) saying as Qantas Gold you can use the lounge in Dubai even if your ticket doesn't have your QF frequent flyer number.

I can't find this in writing anywhere and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with this because even though I got that answer, I've been given incorrect information by airline representatives before.

It never been a case of who you credit to determining lounge access, so you won't have an issue.

Earlier this year there were indeed reports on AFF from people who'd been told by QF lounge agents that the FF number on their boarding pass did in fact determine their lounge access. I was one of those who reported on this and further reported, after speaking to a lounge agent, that this change had come about due to the very thing HB7 is referring to: using QF status for lounge access but crediting to EK. Red Roo commented in that thread that there had been some kind of misunderstanding on the communication forwarded to lounge staff and that the hiccup was indeed just a blip, at least domestically. However, I suspect HB7 will encounter difficulties in DXB.

There won't be any issues in DXB, this has been confirmed to me by the QF DXB station head.

If Mrs. Lime and I fly EK DXB to VIE in Y, as a WP would we get lounge access in DXB?.

Mr BB and I flew Y from DXB to IST recently and yes, you definitely have access to the lounge in DXB. As well as access to 1st Class Check-in etc etc etc

Another option is to stay with QFF while applying for an EK status match.

I went from (QF) SG to WP after the Europe trip while getting the EK gold card afterwards.

Hello All,

So i have spoken to 4 representatives from EK and 2 from QF. They have all said that I can only gain access to the lounges in Dubai if I have my QF Frequent Flyer # in the booking. This is really disappointing because I would become silver with EK if i kept my EK number in the booking but I also really want lounge access in Dubai when I fly back to Melbourne.

Markis10 - is there any way I can speak to the person who can confirm for me that access would be available for me?

Send Red Roo a PM.

Silver Skywards members are allowed access to the business class lounges in DXB. Do you reach silver on your outbound trip? If so then you can have your Skywards FF # on the booking and can use the lounge on your return flight back to Melbourne.

Attach your QF number when you go into the lounge, and change it to EK before you leave the lounge?

I have entered the DXB Flounge with an AA FF number on the BP. I just showed them by QF WP card at the time. Hope that this helps.

That's what it should be.

The stuff about BP FF is nonsensical IMO.
