Does anyone know if lounge access is allowed at SYD airport with Vietnam Airlines if flight have been upgraded by Optiontown? Came across a few diff posts on this but nothing clear on whether lounge access is allowed, even on Optiontown website.

One particular post mentioned that VN Airlines uses Qantas lounge but operate separately i.e. if traveling on Y, they'll give you a lounge invitation at check-in and they pay Qantas for each of the inv issued. Another one suggested that there wouldn't be any prob getting in the lounge if you rock up with a Y boarding pass?

I'm not really familiar with Optiontown upgrades, but if upgraded would you not have a J BP? And if you did, I would have thought you would get lounge access unless VN has some odd rules regarding this. I wouldn't have thought a Y BP (i.e. actually travelling in Y) would get you lounge access, but again I don't actually know this.

Indeed - VN might stamp the BP 'no lounge access' as I believe BA used to do (sill does?) for some upgrades.
