Lounge Access: Business Arrival, Premium Economy Departure

All,

I have flights booked SYD -> LHR return for next year.

3 of the 4 sectors are in Business with the final sector (SIN -> SYD) in Premium Economy.

I have quite a long stopover in SIN on the way back and have realised that I may not get lounge access on account of not having a business class departure?

I have no Krisflyer status (am Velocity Platinum). I upgraded the 3 sectors using converted Velocity points.

What's my situation?

According to the Velocity website you should at least get access to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold lounge based on your VA Platinum status - https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/at-the-airport/international-lounge-access/

Note that VA Gold members are also granted access to this lounge. As such I'm not sure if there is a better lounge if you were (say) departing SIN on a business class ticket - other members on here can hopefully shed some light and advise if it's worth your time trying your luck if there is a better lounge than KrisFlyer Gold.

Though I am VA Plat, it won't be on my ticket as I've booked under my Krisflyer account. I did this for the sake of the points upgrades to Business.

So the plot thickens... Will they let me in if I flash my Velocity card?

I'd still prefer the SilverKris Lounge if I can - all depends I guess whether they allow access for mixed class bookings

No access to the SilverKris lounge in SIN, however as VA Plat/Gold you can access the SQ Gold Lounge which is nice, but nowhere near the SilverKris lounge. Toilets are outside of the lounge itself and the selection of food/drink is smaller. That being said, it's not a bad place to while away the time.

If you wanted to mix it up a bit, you could do a Free Singapore Tour - will just depend on how long your layover is. Do the tour, then maybe finish off in the Gold lounge before flying home.

Unfortunately no access to SilverKris if PE to my knowledge, but definitely flash the VA Plat card at the Gold lounge for access.

Thanks for your help! Perhaps I'll drop some more points on upgrading the final sector before departure.

Alternatively, I did not know about the tour and I have 7hrs, which is enough time. Thanks for the tip!

You may also wish to put your VA FF number on the booking, since it sounds like you originally paid for PE, and would therefore be eligible to earn both points and SC's at PE rates. If you have troubles doing this, there's info somewhere in the SQ tips and traps thread regarding 2 FF fields on your booking, one of which is used for points (change this to VA) and one used for the booking itself which I believe needs to stay as KF due to the upgrade.

Most interesting... I can't find anything yet, but if that's possible it would be ideal. Also the Plat status recognition won't go astray.

Perhaps it's as simple as changing my nominated FF number and program on the booking after the upgrades are secured? It looks like that might be possible.
