Opened my wallet today, seems my QP card has gone missing !!

QF sending new one out to me. I asked if they can cancel the cards, they said no. I guess someone would have to know when I'm flying to try and check in as me ... !

Oh well. Wonder if the new one will be ink printed like the other new FF cards.

Anyone lost theirs before?

Well they don't change the numbers, you have 1 number for life. How else would you cancel the card?

I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to check-in as you, surely that'd be a federal crime and attract a harsher penalty?

Lost mine last year and got sent replacement
You may get lucky and the person who has it may book a big trip on your account and you will get points for it?:D

If only :D

Funny thing is lady on QF centre told me "since you always have to show ID plus your qantas club card to check in ...." .... In the last 4 years, not once have I been asked to show any ID when checking in on domestic on QF.

Only time was on JQ, they asked for DL !!

Interestingly as a punter if I found a QP card (and wasn't a member) I would wonder if somehow I could access a QP by pretending to be the card owner.

A few google searches would show that you could make the booking and check in online without your QFF number in the booking and waltz up to the QP flash your card and say you don't want to put your number into the booking and in all likelihood no-one would challenge you.

And voila you have access to the QP and the original owner hasnt got random flights on his activity listing...

Good point Simon. Only would happen in Domestic tho, since Int'l requires your BP to be scanned ... ?

I think the likelihood of them being able to do something with it is not high with phone transactions. I noticed in the last 6 months, QF have been asking for PIN on a more regular basis before doing anything. Where as 2 years ago, you could ring up, punch in QF number and then change things. (Heck I changed flights before without giving them my PIN)

Even a 5 year old card will scan in the Quick check machines.

FWIW, you do not have to show photo id on check-in if you have a QFF/QP card, the CC used to purchase the fare or the Amadeus PNR:

Forms of Identification

Domestic Flights within Australia

If you have an e-ticket or paper ticket, and are travelling domestically within Australia (flights QF400 and above) bring one of the following forms of identification for booking confirmation:

  • Photo identification such as a driver's licence, passport or social security card; or
  • Your Qantas booking reference (printed on your e-ticket itinerary receipt); or
  • Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership card, Qantas Club membership card; or
  • Credit card used for this ticket purchase.

Thanks serfty. Didn't realise. Let's hope whoever took my card does not try to check in on the day I have my flights then :)

serfty - you're like AFF's own personal wikipedia on everything flight related, I love it! :)

If they did you could always deal with it then anyway. Present your ID and ask them to be "deboarded" or something. Or even if you both somehow ended up with boarding passes and get on the plane you'd have two SnowYeti's on board with the same seat, one with valid photo ID and one without. A Who's going to win that one?
