Hi, I just realised tonight that I have lost my Q card. Most likely it was left in a seat pocket on my last flight.

I'm not too concerned about it. I'll be calling the QFF service centre when they open at 8am tomorrow. But it did get me thinking about what might happen if the card got into the hands of someone with malicious intent.

Does anyone know if the chip and barcode are actually revoked/invalidated when a lost card is reported?

If someone wanted to mess with me they could potentially try turning up at the service desk and changing my bookings or burning some of my points (with some clever social engineering of course). I don't recall ever being asked for photo ID at the desk, except for international departures.

A more sinister scenario might be someone going to the desk and attempting to book & fly under my name. I can't remember if photo ID would be requested in this case, but certainly not an ideal way to earn status credits.

Also, I don't know if everyone has this but the DOM lounge staff basically never scan my card. They certainly look at it closely, I think to check the expiry, but then they generally just wave me through.

Anyway. I know these scenarios are unlikely - but identity theft comes up in my day job from time to time so I was just curious as to how QF handles it.
