Hi all,

It finally happened......after 10 years of QF flying they lost my bag last night.

I was on PER-MEL-SYD with a 1 hr connection in MEL and when I got to SYD at 19:20 no bag appeared. I was left alone at the carousel wondering for a while and then reported it to baggage services.

Left to go home and waited up until 23:00 but alas no call. Call came this morning at 07:00 to say all was found and they would deliver it.

Must say overall I was impressed with how they handled the situation, not happy about the delay but well sorted out and I was called promptly.

Glad to hear that all worked out well in the long run, m8!

ONLY time (so far, touch wood) that I lost a bag was on a flight Syd-Paris via LHR - where was the bag - still on the carousel at LHR, of course - not that it should have been on any bloody carousel at all! Seems like BA baggage handling was at fault - though like you, was handled quite well and bag delivered to hotel about 24 hrs later (longest 24 hrs ever spent with same clothing and undies etc) - now I remember to pack spare undies, shirt, meds etc in carry-on luggage!

Worst experience was with my mum when we went to Fraser Island (which airport is that) from BNE, mums bag didn’t turn up and didn’t turn up for several days. I can’t remember if it actually got to the hotel or it was delivered home in the end. Either way, she was told to keep receipts from clothes she had to buy and she’d be reimbursed, but eventually gave up as QF wasn’t being very helpful on the reimbursement front.

Luckily only the one bad experience, from memory, about lost luggage.

They said the same to me Sam, keep receipts and I would get the money back.

Luckily I was home and did not need to worry, my only concern was because I was feeling lazy I put my carryon in my luggage with my laptop etc.

All worked out well.
