Wondering if anyone else has had this similar experience.....

So I left my carry on bag in one of the disability toilets at Sydney International Airport = T1.

I realised once I had boarded the plane when I needed my jacket....I know, dumb mistake but I was stressed out to the max and rushing!

Straight after take off I informed one of the crew members. They told me they had reported it to the pilot who "apparently" radioed it through to the airport. The pilot came down and wrote down all of my details. Then one of the crew members came down shortly afterwards and told me they had already found my bag and that they would put it on the next flight to LAX. All I had to do was go to Delta baggage services at LAX, fill out a form and then collect my bag the next day.

I arrived at LAX, went to Delta
baggage services who then told me they had no idea about what I was told by the pilot and crew and that was not the way it was done.

I then went online to Delta lost and found, filled out the forms, contacted lost and found at Sydney airport....(thinking they would inform me as to where my bag was located)
All of them told me they had done a thorough search and nothing close to my bag was even found.

My question is....why would the pilot and crew all tell me that my bag was already found and blatantly lie to me??

Also....where is my bag now??....it has been 5 days since leaving my bag behind.

Any help or info would be really appreciated as to what I need to do next.

Thank you and I appreciate your reply and yes it was most likely a mis-communication somewhere. Would I just put in "Delta ground handling agents" in to google to find a contact for them or?

According to this page the ground handling agent seems to be Dnata: https://www.sydneyairport.com.au/contact-us/baggage-handlers 1800 452 308

But maybe that's already the number you called? That seems to be the page for lost luggage/baggage in general. Anyway - might be worth a try if that's a different number to the one you already called. If not there, then perhaps try the Aussie reservations number, see of they have a contact at the airport.

Not much I can do to help unfortunately. It's not necessarily a case of the crew lying to you... it's quite possible an immediate search at the time did find the bag and it was passed on somewhere. When you next inquired and they did another search of course the bag wasn't there, so they told you they'd found nothing. It could just be a case of poor communication between different sets of people, looking for the same bag at different times.

I would also try and see if you can email the Delta ground handling agents in Sydney - it's possible they found it and it's sitting in their office. And keep trying with SYD lost and found. These things can turn up... a friend of mine had a missing item arrive seven months after being lost (and of course all searches 'found nothing').

Thank you! I have emailed them again and the address that was provided. Crossed fingers it is found!
