Losing Seat Selections paid with points

Hi all,
I booked a classic reward flight last September 2021 Brisbane to Las Vegas and got a classic reward flight for myself and my partner to travel in June 2022. Over the past 8 months the plane and flight times have been changed at least 7 times.

Originally we were flying via San Francisco but were changed to go through LA.

My issue is that I booked economy and paid extra points for the extra leg room seats on the long legs. When they changed the plane I lost those seats on our journey Brisbane to LA. I have been trying to get back the points I paid given the airline changed the plane not me.

Has anyone had this occur?
I have attempted 3 times to get a refund, each time I call they say 6-8 weeks to return the points but they never come.
