Hi there,

not sure if this is the right place to ask. I'm not a frequent traveler and looking to book for a hotel in hong kong for 10 nights. will be around May/June next year. price range $150-$200 per night. any recommendation? travel alone and prefer single room.kwoloon/hong kong area.

thanks in advance.

Wait for a sale or try to get a deal via an agent or online site and book Intercontinental Kowloon. The view is better than the Peninsula. On the Island, try Ovolo

Agree with the IC, however was in that area two weeks ago and there is a massive construction job going on right next to it, as well as at the old car park at The Sheraton across the road. These will be ongoing for some time. You could try the YMCA down towards the Star Ferry terminal, but again, wait for specials. Ask for the rooms with harbour views.

Try the harbour plaza chain - harbour views will be a struggle on that budget though with the current exchange rate

Hi bsb,

ovolo definitely in my price range, i'm using the app "agoda" to search around, the ovolo website does have a better deal than the app. intercontinental cost twice as much , will keep an close eye on their website for speicals.

Thanks

Hi franky,

Their single room will be my choice for my price range, room with harbour views cost a lot more.

Hi yohy,

This harbour plaza at north point location does look good, only $905 on agoda.

I stayed there for over a year once. Not 5-star, but fine. A bit out-of-the-way for tourists. And my room (an apartment with kitchenette) had a panoramic harbour view. Window not open-able but!

I stayed at the North Point Harbour Plaza today. It's quite good value actually.

For harbour view in more central locations you would need to be prepared to spend $300 easily.

Sure - depends on how much time you will spend in the room I guess. The Y has an MTR entrance next door, and is only 1 block from the ferry om which you get one of the best views in the world for about $2. The Y also has great harbour views from their restaurant on the 4th floor.

For somewhere more local:-

Rosedale Kowloon / Dorsett Mongkok / Silka West Kowloon

It's in the Tai Kok Tsui area (near Olympic MTR station)

On the Hong Kong side - try Island Pacific (Sai Ying Pun)

Thanks all for all the tips and recommendation, i will keep an eye on these hotels on specials.

just a little update, booked with harbour grand north point, booked straight from hotel website weeks ago, was on special less than $1k hkd per night, went up to the 41st floor last night for drinks, great view! constructions are still in place, looks like 2 apartments and another hotel.
