Hello fellow AFF members!

I hope everyone is in good spirits.

I am heading Toronto way come December 1st, with a return date around 28th Jan 2016. My nearest international airport is MEL, and so I and am on the look out for a great deal to get me there. What better way to improve my chances then to ask for assistance from all of you legends. I unfortunately missed out on a great deal from Qantas recently who had return flights to Vancouver for less than $1000. Hopefully they decide to trial that deal again prior to my departure date.

At this stage due in large to my financial restraints I am not too fussed about who I fly with, if it were an airline affiliated with either Star Alliance or ONE WORLD it would be a bonus.

Please feel free to ask me any questions that may help you to help me (sorry for the para-phrase of THAT movie) and as always any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards, Jimbo B

This recent thread may give you some ideas, to start the ball rolling, although that was about oneWorld, mainly.

I'd look first at:

* UA MEL-LAX then maybe Westjet (preferably) or AC (Tango fare) LAX-YYZ.

* AC SYD-YVR then AC (Tango) or Westjet

* One of the Gulf carriers to DXB/AUH/DOH then onto YYZ

Another option is Jetstar to Hawaii then air canada/westjet or others to toronto just a quick look at your dates, leaving the 1st come back the 27th, is $1600.
You can get flights for $1600 on etihad but it has a 50hr travel time on the way over, then the price jumps to about 2k.

I doubt you will get $1000 flights again anytime soon, pretty sure that was a promo when they launched the route

My son is flying to Toronto tonight with cx via Hong Kong. It was very competitive compared to other carriers and had advantage of no need for domestic travel in Canada. 2 sectors and you are there. If you can jiggle dates a little prices can be down to $1800 return.

I'm considering Toronto next June, and likely to do either QF to HKG then CX to YY, of CX all the way.

Bizarrely, one of the cheaper options is Jet Airways via SIN, BOM/DEL, BRU . Makes for a long flight though.
