Long QF2 Delay

Well, my Oct 2nd Sunday 21.05 flight on QF2 will now leave, hopefully, 10.45am this Monday morning (was originally due to leave at 9.40am). I’m penning this in the Qantas provided Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow which I only found out about when I arrived at the Qantas Lounge. Not particularly happy with the situation. Hopefully the Singapore to Sydney isn’t affected. Does anyone have any insights here?

Rolling delay from the QF1 a few days ago. Engine in some form needed fixing, then crew duty hours exhausted.
 
It appears VH-OQK is being ferried to LHR as QF7001 and will probably form QF2. It is near the Hungarian border now.

Edit: Actually QF1 (VH-OQD) and QF7001 (VH-OQK) are both en route to LHR and should land this morning.

Now that the UK is outside EU they have their own regulations (Delays | Civil Aviation Authority). My understanding is that you should be able to get 520 pounds, but you have to deal directly with Qantas...so no chance 😂 (edit: looking at post below there is a chance!)

Someone posted this on a Facebook Group a few days ago - they are well aware of it. My in-laws (P1) were in a similar situation a few months ago where QF2 was delayed over 12 hours but had to actively ask for the compensation under UK law via Customer Care From, they eventually got it when they mentioned filing a lawsuit in the UK

If it was an engine issue then they definitely should be liable. It's not something out of their control like extreme weather or a medical emergency. They are supposed to do maintenance to prevent or minimise the risk of things like engine problems causing issues that seriously delay flights. Obviously even with maintenance occasionally still things go wrong, but that's a risk of an airline doing business.
