LONE4 prices

I was just tasked with getting my parents some flights for Jun/Jul.

I looked at LONE4 fares ex-MEL and the standard LONE4 is A$3129 plus taxes.

LGLOB26 (which their itinerary would fit into) are A$2679. But there seems to be an anomally (at least according to EF) - LGLOB26 on LA shows up as A$2549. Is this right? Could there be such a difference in OW member prices?

And what is the likelihood of being able to ticket a MEL-LAX-LHR-BCN-AMS-HKG-MEL itinerary on LA in Australia who would have no segments in such an itinerary?

Remember that the economy GLOB fares are seasonal. So a LLGLOB26 will cost about $500 less than a LHGLOB26 fare. So check the departure dates against the current definition of dates for the Low season fare. High season fares are usually from around the end of May through to mid August. Season is determined by the date of the first international flight in the itinerary.

So for a June/July trip, I expect you will need the LHGOLB26 fares which are $3289.

I am not sure why LA is showing slightly lower GLOB fares than the other OneWorld airlines. The fare price is fixed and should be the same from all airlines. Its the +++ components that can vary between carriers.

And as a little OT question - has anyone booked/used this fare - seems too good to be true:

It is slightly lower, but not by much, than I would expect. It is an LH fare to europe with flexible routing options allowing going via either or both asia and north america (ie you can make it into a RTW if you want). The reference to first is misleading - you pay a lot more for a first class fare, or a half and half.

You can get similar ex-NZ also (the participating airlines and allowable routing differs slightly).

Note the destinations in europe impact the fare through various surcharges (basic is to FRA/MUC).

IIRC the booking classes were changed last year to Z meaning can be difficult finding availability on UA (ironically easier on LH) and advance booking requirements.

They are great deals though for simple routings.

Well I guess it looked like a good deal to me as it is substantially cheaper (at 5299) than any other Business RTW fare.

The itinerary I would be booking would be:- MEL-LAX-FRA-BCN..AMS-FRA-BKK-MEL

Is that valid? ".." is an open jaw - is that allowed under this fare?
