Hi everyone,I am travelling to London in sept arriving in Heathrow.I have been to Manchester airport before and found it not to hard to get around.
We are flying Malaysia Airlines ex ADL and don't know which terminal we will land at.Also we are staying at the hotel about 2 miles from terminal and want to know how to get from terminal to hotel without any hassles.
Also what is customs like at Heathrow??, I am able to and will be getting a UK passport before we leave so that will help.
Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks.

Hi there

Malaysian arrive at T3 at LHR, which hotel are you staying at?

UK passports are an advantage at UK airports, and customs are not a worry usaual red/green channels

The Heathrow Hoppa buses connect LHR to the hotels at 4 quid a head.

Local service buses are free within the immediate vicinity of the airport.

Hotels close to the airport do not have their own shuttle buses. There are special buses provided (for a smal fare cost) that drop at the various local hotels. You need to find out from the hotel which hopppa bus you need to catch.

Customs is almost non-existent at LHR. When you collect you bags there is a choice of three exit doors, Green for nothing to declare, Red for something to declare, and Blue for arrivals from EU countries. I always use the Green channel when not arriving from another EU country and have never been questioned or searched. In fact, most times there are no customs staff there watching (visible anyway).

However, I expect you are really asking about Passport Control and not about customs. Aussie passports are generally not a problem in the UK. You have to use the "Other Passports" line. The delay at passport control varies greatly depending on the time of the arrival. For example, I arrived at LHR T4 today around 1pm and had no wait at al at passport control using my Aussie passport. But if arriving at say 7am, the queues can be very long. I have no direct experience with T3 arrivals but expect it to be similar to my experiences at T1 and T4.

So If im arriving at Heathrow at 6:30 am from QF9 expect a long wait????

I did that very flight and as long as you can keep ahead of the hordes, it's not bad. The immigration desks are very close to baggage, which being LHR will take a while anyway. Sometimes foreign passports are quicker than UK - my wife (Aus) was through before me a couple of visits ago.
