I have decided to head to London for dinner.

This has been predicated by booking the last A380 QF9 (via DXB), and then the first B787 QF10 (via PER).

So I have 24 hours in London.

Normally I would suggest cheap and cheerful for dining, but this time I think the occasion calls for some posh nosh. I would therefore like some suggestions. I am staying at the HH Paddington, so somewhere close.

Who's in?

There's a chance I might have headed off on one of the last few QF A380s visiting DXB going the other way, but if not, I'm in.

Posh nosh-wise, my SO's family semi-frequent Rules, but never yet when I've been around. So that's somewhere that I wouldn't mind an occasion to visit. However it's in Covent Garden, so probably some actual Londoners have good suggestions closer to Paddington.

We enjoyed Galvin which is in the Hilton Park Lane on the top floor.
Heston was a bit more expensive and that is inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge.
We did afternoon tea at the Langham with champagne.
All three are ok but look up the menus and be very careful of the expensive beverages.

We did go to Strada a couple of times with AFFers in the past. Much less of a wallet buster than the three I mentioned above. The one near London Bridge can have views down the Thames.
Duck and Waffle moves you along so not really a spot to talk for a while as there will be people waiting for your seat.

I'm in. I fly in from GVA that morning, but quite early so can't imagine a scenario that would keep me away. Paddington is a little out of my orbit so I will wait for others to suggest a venue, cheers,

OXO tower restaurant, bar & brasserie is a good mix of posh enough and good views, but not near Paddington. Not really sure of anything around there as don't frequent the area too much. I'm tentative for this, have a chaotic schedule at the moment so not sure if I'll be in town or not.

I'm out for this as I will be in New Zealand at the time. Paddington area doesn't really have anything posh that I can think of. You're better off in Kensington, city, Mayfair or Soho type areas. Some suggestions include Chotto Matte (soho), Theo Randall (Mayfair), City Social (near Liverpool St).

Went to Sexy Fish in Mayfair and it was fantastic and expensive but well worth it. I wasn’t paying either :)

Actually going on the Mayfair route, if you like steak then Goodman is a nice option.

Goodman is always OK as long as you are thinking steaks. We go to the Canary Wharf one every time we go to London.
Now the rest of the family go there too.

Have you been enough times to get your own steak knife yet?

Hmm, maybe I need to provide a bit more detail to the criteria:

Convenient to Paddington, as opposed to being in Paddington.
Decent vegetarian options.

No Flashback we go to the US a lot more. No offer of a steak knife....so far. My son gave me a gift card for the last visit.

Presumably you are in business class?

I'm doing same flight numbers this weekend in economy and have about 90 minutes less in London.

Unfortunately you presume incorrectly. Y all the way.

I do have a points upgrade request in for QF10, though.
