Does the locate members (app) feature work ?

I've checked it loads of times when travelling but rarely see anyone else "pinned". Admin a few times and Samh004 once, but that's it.

I know people are posting when I check, are they just not opting-in ? Are members concerned about privacy when the app asks to report your position whenever the app is open? I agreed on the basis that I close the app when I'm not using it.

I can spot people from time to time. I don't have the app open all that often, so I may not be very 'visible'.

Good questions OzEire . I've often wondered about this myself.

I don't often navigate to it, but feel it could come in handy on certain occasions. Certainly when attending a function perhaps... so I might try it in CNS in 2 weeks time! :p

ComeFlyWithMe, I don't mind the concept but the accuracy is my concern, it should be "offset" a bit to give members a little privacy while still indicating who is 'nearby'.

As a public travel forum I'd hate to think that someone/anyone could join and see exactly where my house is and also know I was overseas.

Sam's suggestion is what I would have thought is the purpose of the feature.

Hilarious that it's the only thing that actually works with the new app.

I never turned it on ... I'm back on the old app now and loving it!

How did you get the old app back? New on suck dogs b%#lls

I was thinking this too. Amazing that it works, are you sure it doesn't say we are all in Zimbabwe or somewhere? Maybe it flickers back and forth between random countries, like when you open a new thread... :p

I was thinking more like extremely creepy.

I recall when the app was first released, members were able to include a location they were posting from (complete with cropped pin on a map), this just takes it to the next level. I agree, it needs a little work if you're browsing at home, as other members would be able to see where you live (only if also using the app), but the practicality for gatherings and events will come in handy at some stage. I think the only thing that would make it more complete would be a better communication system when you're trying to meet someone, but that will come back to the app in time I'm sure.

First time I've see so many members logged-in in such close proximity :)

I have become a frequent user of the "Locate members" app feature since someone pointed out it fixes the "cannot post" error on the iOS app.
