Is it even possible to do? I often do it when travelling with another person in the same class.

Then as a WP, I can select good seats and have the other person (who is usually lower than WP) seated next to me - so the better status seat selection extends to a lower status travelling companion. I can also then do an on-line check-in for both of us without needing to know the other PNR - which is often handy.

But can it be done if we are travelling in different classes? And is there any reason to do it other than easier on-line check-ins? I can't imagine that the status seat selection benefit above would extend to a companion passenger travelling in another class (eg allocating them a better seat within their class of travel).

I have linked booking for a pax on Y (Me [SG]) and a pax in J (SWMBO). It seemed to work when there were some changes to the flight (type and time etc).

Well a call to Qantas Premium today and it is possible to link different class bookings. But they say on-line check-ins will have to be done separately - it's not apparently possible to do at the same time when in different classes.
