Hi AFF,

I'm seeking some advice/guidance. I'm in the process of planning our honeymoon, using reward flights. Currently have enough points for return 1st suites from SYD-SIN for the both of us. The dates are however:
17/8/20 - well not really important, we are flexible.

Again, even the start date is flexible, but I've been unable to find a saver availability.

There are plenty of award availability in suites for the return if we just do SYD-SIN/SIN-SYD. However, I've been reading about maximising KF points with a free layover. Currently looking at one going to LHR with a free stopover in SIN. However, the SIN-LHR leg of the award, if we want to go in A380 suites, is all waitlisted. Availability is there for the SIN-LHR leg in the Boeing 777-300ER which is 1st, not suites.

Question:
What's the probability of us getting it, has anyone had experience/luck with a similar trip? Or should we just book the 777-300ER in 1st.

This is the first time I've asked a question of this sort, so please, if I'm missing something or I've posted in the wrong section please advise.

I can’t comment on the chances of getting suites, but are in the lounge waiting to board 1st on a 777. This is our second trip from Melbourne and we don’t have a suites option. I haven’t managed SQ suites but have EK on A380 with shower etc. I wouldn’t worry to much about the difference. Some say they prefer the old 777 1st anyway.

Hi SCR77,

Thanks for the input. In that case, I'll go with the Saver 777-300ER. That way I get the best of both I guess.

I'm Melbourne based also, but will fly to SYD to experience the suites.

Have you flown business?

I would confirm the seats in B777 and then waitlist for A380. If it clears then pay a small fee to change the SIN-LHR leg, if not you will still enjoy First in the B777.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll go with that option 👍

About to land in Copenhagen. Son is in business and we will return in business. The business seat looks pretty good too, although the bulkhead seats have better foot room.

Read lots of the SQ tips thread. As others mention, if you are right handed you want a seat on the left of an isle. That way, staff don’t lean across screen to fill your glass. They are very attentive, so that happens a lot.
