It's Canberra International Airport - they flew to New Zealand once!

It's like the fast train argument Leightons had in the 80's, there simply isn't the patronage.

I know they had FJ flights to NAN once, but I don't recall fights to NZ. They've quietly dropped the international from their name these days as well.
I'm slightly surprised there are no flights to NZ. The amount of people we sent to NZ for the agency I was working for almost demanded a direct flight. That's not including the amount of Kiwis that actually worked there.

The high speed train is another thing they bring up from time to time.

The nz flights go back a few years. Nadi was 2004.

The coy name has 'international' noted but the trading name does not, for convenience I believe.

Do you remember the days before aerobridges?

I think not having aerobridges is going back a bit before my time.

Canberra airport will never be international - not if the fuel is more expensive and has to be trucked in (not rail).
Taxi's or lack of them will ensure Canberra remains a horrid destination
I agree NZ flights and flights to sg should be goers - except for the 'Canberra Factor' - being greedy and charging more than Sydney.
As of Nov 15, There is a new ACTION bus timetable. They have not signposted the way to Brindabella Business park bus stop - walk to the Caltex Servo and keep on going. (Action and Airliner A1). There is no public/bus transport before 8am and after 6PM.

Taxis are a major problem at times, I find it easier to hire a car, although the walk was quite long with a few bags.

Good advice on the bus timetable. There are a lot of offices around there now so services should improve but it will be busier

Welcome to Canberra's public no-transport network...

There are more flights CBR-MEL per day than there are buses between my place and the city.

Furthermore thanks to the senic route the bus takes, it's nearly quicker for me to go from my place to MEL CBD, than it is for me to catch the bus into CBR's CBD...

That's probably true. I got a bus into the city for some drinkies the other day and it took over an hour for what would normally take 20 minutes at most.
