I've done quite a bit of flying recently and maybe I am becoming a bit of a winging git, which is more than likely. I recently had a few long haul business class flights. One was overnight so that was expected that the lights would be dimmed after service. In saying this though, on the return we left Manchester around mid-day, they served meal and was done and dusted by about 3.5 hrs after the flight and the lights were turned out, attendants disappeared for the remainder of the flight until breakfast in Singapore. I had the same with a Jetstar flight from Bali it left around two pm , same thing service (quicker) then lights out. Neither of these flights served coffee after meal, or should I say it wasn't offered. I must say it felt a bit like, shut em up and we don't have to be busy any more and of course save money. What does every one think?

I haven't noticed it as much regarding service; I can always go and ask for something extra if I need.

Lights off/blinds closed on day flights I hate. It makes me feel really lethargic and sleepy. I'll get my seat lit up like a squid trawler if I have to.

I'm with you on this. Let the daytime be daytime, also on the planes. If someone wants to dim their place for a nap, they can close (or ask for) their window blind down and/or use an eye mask.

The only reason where you could think of dimming the cabin completely is when starting to adjust to the destination timezone already from the start of the flight but even that should have some flexibility in relation to the departure timezone (e.g. if you'd depart 3 pm from Europe when SIN is already sleeping --> have an early night at e.g. 8 pm but not a "forced" sleep at 5 pm).

There’s a difference between turing off the lights, and closing the blinds.

Keeping the lights on full during a day flight would interrupt viewing IFE.

Did a short recent AA flight in USA, it was a smaller plane, but still a jet, left in the dark 6am or something, all blinds down when boarding and for take off, the lights were on for boarding and straight after take off a juice and biscuit was handed out and then the lights went off, and as it was dark outside nobody opened the blinds either. Literally the only light was from the no smoking/seatbelt signs or a small glow from people phones if they were awake. As there was only about 20 people on the plane it was quite weird as I guess most of us wanted to sleep and as we all had a row each to stretch out on. I dont think any of the druggies beeped the FA's for more coffee even.

Lights were turned on for landing but they left all the blinds closed...maybe things dont catch fire over there like Qantas expects here...

it was a strange flight.

Sq yes. I’ve flown international J In ek, eq, qf lh, ba, Oman air never experienced it, thought maybe a covid cost cutting thing….and yes Jetstar business as it’s marketed “Loves to travel” , was actually decent for the reward price II picked it up at, comparable to QF domestic probably a bit better
