Any hardy souls venture to Libya independantly? Just the visa hassles alone are making a peregrine/geckos type tour seem attractive.....

I'm trying to include a week or so in Libya as part of a LONE4 and was wondering if anyone could throw up a recommendation for a tour operator there.

I cannot help with a recommendation for a tour operator in Libya but there is a thread on FT which is a few years old on cheap F fares out of TIP and what people have done to deal with visas and tour operators.

* Note it is lengthy reading and some of the information could be outdated. If that does not give you the answer you want then post the question on Flyertalk

I can recommend the agent I use in Libya from time to time. The company is Magic Libya Plus ( magiclibyaplus.com ) . They can sort out anything you need for visiting the country from hotels and visas, car transportation to hotel, plus tours ( either private and bespoke or in a group ). Make sure to visit Leptis Magna and if time, Sabratha. For more time spare, a visit to the south can be good. I have done tours to places like leptis magna privately and the private tours are good value. I organised a week trip for a friend and they visited places like Sabratha, Leptis , Benghazi and the desert regions. You can happily chat to them and plan a tour around your desires

The main person I deal with there is Rita , who being from Manchester, has English as a primary language and easy to communicate with either by phone or email

Send her an email at [email protected]

You will have no issues at all visiting there with these people; it is a v pleasant place to visit

Obviously, be aware that alcohol is illegal there and so don't be buying any duty free before your visit to libya

Thanks Dave. FYI I haven't heard anything back from Rita or the general info email on the magiclibya website. They're not the Lone Ranger though. I've contacted 6 companies all up and only 3 have replied.
