So I'm booking my father return flights to London to visit his family and having some trouble with the return leg.
I've booked him J Syd-LHR on QF/BA which will be a real treat for him, but I have insufficient points to get him back in J or F.
Return, we wanted to fly Y via SIN with a stop over of around 12-15 hours so he can get some sleep and maybe do a city tour.

This option allows for a good 8 hours sleep in Singapore airport at a hotel, and then 6 hours or so for a city tour of checking out the airport.
When I search for LHR-SYD the cost is 613GBP - about $1200AUD - fine. However we can't the combination of flights we want - namley SQ305 and SQ221 - despite them being available. Date is 20th of September departure.
We can get this combination as a multi-city flight but the price jumps to 703GBP - or about $1385AUD - which is a bit steep considering that an Eithad flight would only be $1085AUD.
I called SIN call centre and had no luck. I really want Dad to have a stopover as he is 73, not in the best health and it's a long flight....
Any suggestions on how to get that flight combination for the 613GBP price?
Alternatively - any options for other stop over cities - I'm thinking maybe BKK, or even AUH?
