On an upcoming OW RTW ticket, debating a change to my Atlantic leg. Schedules the same taking BA vs AA. Obviously a significant taxes difference (~$300/pax).

Flying AA: better lounge (CX F), better meal
Flying BA: better in flight service, better seat, easier connection T2-T5 (?).

What would you do?

I flew AA J LHR to JFK in December last year. To say it was underwhelming would be an understatement :(

I flew BA LHR-JFK in J last year and found the new dreamliner seats (1-2-1) very comfy, with pillows twice the size of QF J. Service was fine. Certainly a huge step up from the older config which flies from dfw with the backwards seats.

Not sure why the commentre the lounge as a QF Plat / OWE you can choose between the BA First or CX First or other lounges. - easy to move airside at LHR.

Typically BA seats are plentiful, AA much harder to come by.

The real benefit is flying out of JFK in J fromT8, with speciallounge style check in, fast track through security and the new Soho lounge.

BA LHR-JFK departs from T5 (eg Concorde lounge if I was in F)... and I think the BA F lounge in T5 is better than T3 from what I remember pre-COVID

BA F Lounge in T5 was decent, I was there a few weeks ago. Liked that they were serving both breakfast and lunch in parallel; had table drink service and some a la carte options.

AA J isn’t terrible.Seat/bed is fine. BA a small step up in terms of catering, but $300 worth? Probably not.

Posting pics of J experience on BA from LHR to JFK; it may help you decide.

I had a early morning departure with early arvo arrival, so only breakfast and snack no dinnner service.

Full size pillow

And here is my flight on AA - I have allergies so this was a special meal. I think I ate some of the salad and the cheese. The pasta wasn't great

Thanks Lynda2475! I’m looking forward to trying the Canard Duchene. I drink the rose which is a pretty good drop. The regular isn’t bad, so the cuvee Louise will be interesting!
