Hi All,
I am on QF2 from LHR to SYD tomorrow night and am wondering how early I can check in. I would like to spend most of the afternoon in the First Lounge working/emailing etc if possible. I am Platinum and wondering if I can check in hours early or do they only open checkin for flights closer to departure times? Is there a Qantas checkin or only BA? Not used to this route.
thanks in advance
diane

If you are HLO then you can check in online and get through security as early as you like. Someone from QF will need to check your passport, but I normally do that in the BA Lounge.

If you are checking luggage then I think check in opens about 4 PM.....might be 5 PM. (Been a long time since I needed to go to the check in desk or arrived at LHR early....and I do it anywhere between 5 and 8 times a year!!!!)

Thanks for that. I do have to check luggage so need there to be a counter open to check in.

Can you check in online early and drop off your baggage later? If so, is storing your baggage at the airport until the Qantas check-in counter opens an option?

There's a baggage storage facility at Terminal 3 (though in the arrivals hall, not departure hall) open from 5.30 am to 10.30 pm according to this:

Heathrow Baggage Storage

You might need to take a walk and go through security twice, but it might allow you to spend more time in the lounge.
