Has any one got/used one of these. They look like a good idea but I was wondering how long the cables were.

Thanks in advance

Yes, thanks, that's where I found it. I can't dind any information on how the lower strap is. On our bags the zip to the front panel is about 4 inches below the bag top, I don't think either cable is that long.

There is an adjustable cable lock around. Have you tried the travel shops? I've got one at home otherwise I would send you a photo. When you travel to Africa you accumulate every security device available !!

Thanks Sprucegoose I live in regional NSW (looks around for travel shop but none sighted :) ) I will keep using mother google to see what I can locate.

I saw the picture, and didn't like the lock at first glance. It doesn't look robust, and three number combinations are too simplistic for my liking. After doing some Amazon searching, it appears the reviews aren't crash hot either.

Lewis N. Clark Double Cable Lock (Black): Amazon.co.uk: Luggage

Funny, I have done extensive searches on Google, no reference to Amazon that I have seen. Reports on there are food for thought. Thanks for the head up.

We use these, irv. The smaller loop extends 4.5cm from the lock body and the larger loop 8cm. LOA is 16cm with cables anchored at both ends. The lock itself and the cables are quite sturdy and I think they would take significant effort to break. We have mainly used them on Euro trains to lock the handles of our two cases together - harder for someone to knock off two cases if they are shackled together.

For flights we use the Lewis & Clark rainbow coloured luggage straps with TSA locks which you can adjust to fit very snugly. Got them from tamperseal.com. They're also quite distinctive for recognising your cases on the carrousel. The locking mechanism on these is very hard/dense plastic which is very sturdy. For suspect destinations we use 2 on each case, one lengthways and one around the middle with both threaded through the respective case handle. We have never had any tampering issues and they seem to act as a very good deterrent.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I was looking at the strapsafe luggage straps made by Pacsafe, will have a look at these as well.
