I have recently booked a return to Europe with Qantas points. Melbourne to Venice with Qantas/ Emerites in economy. Back with Qatar from Athens in business. The taxes coming back with Qatar v Qantas / Emerites reduced by $ 200 each. 185,000 points though . Each . A bit ouchy, but we have a lot of points.
