I like to take my tea with a slice of lemon, and on occasion I'll even ask for a soda water with lime (a charming AA FA gave me the idea when she offered it on one flight).

A recent trip provided two tales of lemon slices on QF Y. Flying SYD-MEL, I asked for one with my tea and the FA obligingly went and got one for me. But on the return MEL-SYD, I asked if they had any and got a one-word "No" in response. No apology either, just a no.

Are lemon slices normally available in QF Y? Was I only given one the first time flying SYD-MEL because the FA in question addressed me by name and I was one of two elites written on a piece of paper on his trolley with name and seat number - i.e. making lemon slices in Y another unpublished WP benefit?

That being said towards the end of the MEL-SYD flight the CSM came by row 23 (the front of Y on the unrefurbished 763 we flew) and thanked me and the WP sitting next to me for "being on board far too often" in a cheeky way.

I'm with you taking Tea with a slice lemon, nothing beats it!

(Off topic, but lemon on fish is a necessity for me as well).:p

Back on topic, the slice of lemon on QF flights on the MEL > SYD sector, i have always been offered a slice of lemon when seated in J, but in Y i have found that Tea & coffee is rarely served due to being a short sector.

I am pleased to hear that you have been successful in being served Tea when seated in Y on this sector, as i never have, but then again i have never asked, so will do next time.

I look forward to seeing how you go. Are you WP by any chance, Phil?

Yes I'm a WP, most of the time I get "welcome of board cool cat phil " greeting, but no offer for a Cuppa!

I will speak up next time & let you know my luck.

I wonder if the response might be:

" Sorry Mr Cool Cat Phil, we've run out. There's been a rash of people asking for lemon recently and we can't figure out why." :)

Just got off QF 600 MEL > BNE..... i piked out & had coffee today!

On my return i will road test tea & let you know my findings.

[-]I look forward to asking for a lemon slice on my next flights. Have a feeling the experience will be different in J though.[/-]

Edit: Thought you meant like a biscuit or something... I have my tea with milk :p

The reason their maybe no Lemons is because some of the Fa,s used them to keep the sour look that you get sometimes?

Any further reports on this?

I think I'll try my luck getting lime slices next...:p

The lemon shortage seems to have hit land based restaurants as well. The last half a dozen times I have eaten out and ordered fish, prawns etc they have been served sans lemon. I have had to request lemon on each and every occasion with some of the wait staff looking somewhat baffled by my request.

Is this a food trend I have missed??

For me, I really do like fresh squeezed lemon on fish and seafood, and when you think about it even the local chippy throws in a quarter of a lemon with the take away fish and chips.

To be fair the price of lemons has been higher compared to normal.

June to August is the season for lemons, outside of that they can be expensive.

I don't disagree with you, however restaurants deal with fluctuating prices of fresh produce on a continual basis, and they still manage to serve fresh food and mostly make a profit.

And they change their dish prices to suit ;)

There is plenty of lemon or lime in the AA flagship lounges to go in your Corona...
