I am thinking of booking the Le Meridien Etoile in Paris for a couple of nights in late June through Platinum Amex for Euros 195. Has anyone stayed there ..... is it good ... and is Amex offering a reasonable price (bearing in mind there is supposed to be a better than average chance of getting an upgrade)?

I would appreciate any comments.

Millarise,

I stayed there a number of years ago and remember it being very comfortable. It is fairly modern so does not have any "traditional Parisian" elegance about it.

The one thing I would say is it is not in the best location in Paris, and given the choice I would rather stay in a hotel in that particular city in a better location.

On the other hand if the deal is that good it may be worth it as the Metro is easy to navigate in Paris to see all the sights.

Hope this helps.

We stayed at the Le Grand Intercontinental Paris in October last year and the loctaion was perfect.

There were some fantastic deals going around and they may repeat them this year so keep an eye out

Depends on how much you want to pay really.

If it was me i would actually avoid all of the big chains in Paris and stay somewhere with some Parisian charm. this does not necessarily equate to big dollars but if you have the budget there are some fantastic hotels.

If you can be more specific about what you want I can try to give you some advice. Failing that the Eyewitness Travel Guide to Paris is excellent.
