Hmm, signed up for the last plat offer but never used it... Might sign up for this as next August might be going around Japan with some friends who want to stay in hotels rather than hostels, but by the sounds of it on here it doesn't actually offer you a lot???

Yes, same here. Signed up with the best of intentions, but don't really know the affiliated hotels all that well. Platinum doesn't really seem to offer enough to drag me away from SPG and Hhonors. I realise the market is quite different, but still, with some properties not participating, I've just not been excited

Very, very little to be honest. Biggest things are:

* Status matching for other programs (this is by far its biggest advantage)

* Double points ... but you need a LOT of them to do anything anyway

* Upgrades but only in their three most premium brands. Expect absolutely nothing in other brands. In my last visit I stayed a week as Platinum and was placed in one of the worst rooms in the hotel. I had to complain to get moved.

Booked Novotel Langley Perth for boxing day for $99, using Platinum card from the last sign up, which expires before boxing day (end of November, I think).

Two questions:

1. Is it worth signing up again for this booking? i.e. Are there any benefits at this hotel with Plat card?

2. If the answer to 1 is yes, is it possible to remove existing Plat card number from the booking and add a new one? If so, how would I go about this?

Do any other hotel chains offer to status match this card if they know its being given away willy nilly, and if so, what would be one of the better ones people have managed?? With 3 people travelling it would be nice to stay at a hotel where they might offer to upgrade us to a slightly larger room or something??

This is genuinely true but sometimes you come across a hotel that does recognise Plats.

I recently stayed at the Mercure in Potts Point Sydney and was upgraded to a large suite + they treated me like royalty. Similarly the Novotel in Suva were extra attentive and the Novotel in Nadi gave me a free bottle of red on two separate occasions.

However, this is very hit and miss; most of the Accor properties don't regconise you at all!

im now platinum again after previously being gold (which was worth less than nothing) :), any tips on the best accor property in sydney?

Accor now have the Sebel Pier One, although not sure how it's currently fitting into their program as a quick glance at their website doesn't promote the Sebel brand

when i did a search it said that Sebel doesn't accept Le Club at present :(
