LCA to DXB using QFF points

I’ve read a few threads trying to find the answer to this, seems to be able to be remedied through the call centre looking at the QF call centre wait time thread but……

I am trying to book LCA to DXB with EK in Y using QFF points for a friend. There is seat availability for the date I want, however I can’t book it on QF. However, if I use a multi city search - LHR/LGW LCA DXB - the sector LCA DXB is bookable. Could someone please tell me why I can’t book the single sector?

Are you unable to book this online or via the call centre?

You can't book it online because Qantas is not able to process payments online for bookings originating in Cyprus.

I booked a QF award on EK ex LCA a few years ago and had to call up. Not bookable online, and the person at the QF South African call centre told me (incorrectly) no availability. The next person I spoke to was in Hobart and she was able to book it for me.

Yes, trying online. Past experience tells me that QF won’t allow me to book via the call centre for a 3rd party and my friend would not be able to handle this at all. If QF chat was working, I could do it that way as I have all her QF info. Unfortunately there is no availability for her chosen date for LHR/LGW LCA DXB.

if you have all their information you could pretend to be them on the phone (unless you're a different sex of course)

Yes, VPS, I could do that. It’s the wait times to get connected to QF that is the hard part.
