As VA Gold and also Priority pass holder can anyone advise me on the best Lounge at LAX now? I know there has been some changes so wanted some last minute updates seeing as my return flight is 11.50PM.

Much appreciated!

Re: ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I really liked the outdoor area of the Star Alliance lounge. Havent checked out the KAL lounge yet.

I also like to swing past Spa Xpress and get an overpriced massage before my flight.

The *A business lounge is indeed nice, but was super crowded in the afternoon during my last visit which made it a bit less pleasant. Also had unbelievably low water pressure in the shower! Really nice once a couple of A380s left though, and some of the best food I've had in a business class lounge buffet setup.

Star lounge, no question. If the weather is nice (Which it should be), grab a drink and a bite, and head straight down the back of the lounge, up the ramp, and out to the terrace. It's lovely out there!

Water pressure is a problem in general in the USA i've decided. The QF F lounge showers are the best i've had at LAX, but the Star ones aren't great.

The hotel I stayed at in LAS (Vdara, a great hotel) had less water pressure than a water bubbler/fountain has. Massive shower designed to be luxurious, and not enough water to get wet :(

Love the outside terrace, great place for a preflight g&t.

Yes I can add my vote to Star Alliance. The outdoor area plus the peanut gallery for observing the people inside the terminal make it a winner for me.

I used the KAL lounge this week. It was ideal for me as my VA flight departure was from TBIT (check in T3).

Lounge certainly seats lot of people. The bar is self-service. I helped myself to JW Black 2x.

The food selection was limited. I picked as many egg sandwiches as I could. No hot items other than preparing noodles in cup.

Best value for me was the shower to freshen up before a 14+ hour flight.

Yep another vote for the star alliance lounge and the outdoor area. Whenever I am there no matter how crowded inside is the outdoor area has had minimal people. I am not sure everyone knows it is there.

I flew back on Saturday and used the Star Alliance Lounge. It was awesome. Very large selection of seating, great self service bar and huge buffet selection. Overall i really enjoyed it there.

You know, I've heard so many references to the privacy that the outside terrace in the Star Alliance Lounge offers, we will be there on a hot August night, and I am beside myself with anticipation - first time in the Lounge after a (hopefully) magnificent holiday, then sinking into long haul J class in The Business............

Someone, pinch me up pleeeeeease.

Was in the lounge last Tuesday evening for my VA1 flight to Sydney connecting from JFK and as a Platinum member I was entitled to access the first class lounge.

Although the first class lounge is quite private and offers table service for meals, you need to enter the main business class lounge to access the showers. After having a shower I decided not to go back to the first class lounge as the business class lounge offered an extensive buffet service and bar.

It's obviously a bit more crowded than the first class lounge but I was able to find a quiet area to wait it out until boarding. In future I won't bother with the first class lounge but remain in the main business class lounge area.

Interesting. Husband is SG and will attain WP after our VA1 flight to LAX in August. We don't return until 21st August, so will be unable to produce any evidence of his new Status. Any thoughts on how we access the First Class Lounge with discretion? Would love to say we've experienced it!

If you have the Virgin Australia app on your iphone and should your status change between your two flight dates, the app can be used to show your current status and bring up a digital version of your membership card. However, for the reasons I outlined in my post, I wouldn't be too disappointed if you don't get in .
