Seeking clarification from someone who has actually done this recently......

My understanding is that TSA has relaxed the Airside access rules in that you can now access ANY terminal airside, so long as you hold a valid BP for ANY terminal.

Ie. Your next flight could be on AA departing from T4 later in the day, and TSA will allow you to go airside at TBIT.

Can anyone confirm that they have actually done this??

Not in October; to use the AA lounge on a U.S. flight we had to take the bus and show/explain why we were moving terminals.

Since May the 1st this has been the case.

Of course it's moot with any of the Southern terminals now as access is available by merely walking airsidebetween T4/T5/T6/T7/T8.

US no longer depart from T3 - they use T6.

As I indicated May 14 airside access at LAX for any terminal has simply required your boarding pass and ID for a flight departing that day from LAX irrespective of the terminal.

This has been confirmed by anecdotes. I first found reference here on Flyertalk: LAX - TBIT star alliance lounge access

Thanks Serfty,

I was aware of some "chatter" but I wanted to confirm from reliable sources before changing my plans for the day......

Weird then that we weren't allowed....except via bus.

I'm travelling to LAX tomorrow and then onwards to Seattle via Alaskan. I'm on a QF flight number so was hoping to go to the AA lounge in T4 for a shower and then heading airside to T6 for my departure (there are no showers in the Alaskan lounge).

Can anyone advise how much time I'd need to allow to walk between terminals?

Did this Monday for an AA flight from T6 - 10 minutes should be fine.

Down the escalators at gate 44 to the bus stop foyer then to the left down another escalator then around to the right and you'll see a tunnel signed fot T5, T6, etc. Don't head towards "baggage claim".

Remember, in the US flights start boarding 30-35 minutes before scheduled flight time so you'll need to tack that time on.

A quick note that this appears to be US wide - I have seen anecdotes of such access been obtained at ORD and JFK.

ORD has never cared. I used to walk through T1 security with an AA BP all the time. It probably helps that T1-3 are connected airside though.
