Interested to hear whether VA are still relegated to the remote stands/bus gates for arrivals into LAX. I have a tight-ish connection (2 hr 45 min) coming up from VA7 to an AA flight. Typically this should be enough time but I'd like to figure out if I should move it or identify an alternate plan. Anyone taken the route recently and can comment?

I flew VA1 a couple of weeks ago and we got a jetway. I found the transfer procedure easy at TBIT, and though there was a wait for TSA before the domestic flight, I still had an hour in the lounge. Is there a reason you chose AA over DL?

Note we did get a remote gate for VA2, which was a bunfight. Everyone in the lounge got to the gate last, meaning that when we were bussed to this shed, we were behind every other passenger already waiting to board. Not fun at midnight prior to a 15hr flight. (first world problems)

Unless this is a recent thing (within the last year), for the 5years previously I had been operating into LAX not once did we get a remote gate for inbound. Was only on occasion for the outbound flights from LAX.

In 15 flights to/from LAX on VA over the last three years I have never had a bus gate.

It must happen, although probably rarely, I have had it once for sure maybe twice into LAX in the last 2 years.

Had once for a arrival when the flight was delayed into LAX from 6am to 5pm arrival.

Might be an issue due to the fact VA 2/ and 7 arrive within an hour of each other?

Definitely not an issue. If we can get there right on 6am we’re one of the first flights in and TBIT is practically empty.

So early in fact, that a couple of times they've held us on the plane as CBP staff hadn't even arrived at their booths yet!

A number of gates are closed at the moment, as they build access for the new terminal. So, whilst not likely, it does increase the likelihood somewhat.
