Hi all - I’m on QF11 this Friday and have a 5 hour 50 minutes transit at LAX before heading to on AA to CLT.

In this time of COVID is there enough time to get out of LAX and see the local life before coming back in to the terminal?

For local lounging I’m on a QF ticket for the AA leg but given I’m only Qantas Club with no QF status at the moment I presume the QP does not get me any AA lounge access?

Or is there a domestic lounge at LAX that is worth paying for to while away my time?

Cheers

QP membership gives Admirals Club access before an AA flight.

Other tips:

Be at at gate at least 45 minutes before scheduled departure.

You have a choice of the lounge at at T4 or T5.

LA traffic is horrendous. On a Friday afternoon it's going to be very busy. It can take an hour just to get to Venice beach which is probably the closest place of interest to LAX. I've done it with an 8 hour layover - 5 is probably not going to be worth the effort - or the stress.

Also I think you're underestimating how long immigration will take at LAX - this could chew up at least 2 of your 5 hours. I nearly missed a connection to SFO a few years ago despite having 2.5 hours in between.
