So, OT but upping the game. Has anyone received the latest amenity kit for J? Seriously, it looks and feels so cheap. On the flights in the last two weeks. Both ways, most were left behind. Compare them with Emirates and Qatar and it's a miserable fail yet flight costs are similar.

Has it changed? I got one a few weeks ago which was the Asian anniversary one (Singapore on one side and Tokyo on the other). Very standard contents.

It’s no EK but still better than most other oneworld airlines I’ve flown this trip (JL, BA & AA).

I have flown EK this trip and while their amenity kit was good there’s a lot more substantial aspects of the service I’d rank far below QF. I don’t typically use the contents during the flight, but I find a lot of good uses for the container. Historically I’ve always found the QF kits quite stylish - I think the Kate Spade era was the best but the current lot isn’t bad.

Every leg of my QR flights I get a Dyptique Eau d’toilette spray. I take them but just put them aside. When I visited family in Brisbane, they nearly fought over them to get them. Good stuff apparently.
Rest of the contents is a bit meh (standard socks, earplugs and moisturisers) but the actual container is double zipped and actually handy. I’ve adopted it for my short domestic trips like at the moment.

Those perfume cylinders are wonderful. I'd fight for them too. I have a few and use very sparingly. The containers too are memorable. The Qantas ones? Texture Feels unpleasant and cheap manufacture.

What’s the specific kit you have a problem with? Have you got a photo?

Not my photo but from a FB page. There are four in the series I think. I don't have mine with me right now.

Oh yeah I got one of this trip (referenced above), Singapore on one side and Tokyo on the other. I think it’s really cool and I was glad to receive it as I’ve got quite a few of the normal ones. They’re limited edition to celebrate 90 years of international flying. https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/m...the-world-closer-for-millions-of-australians/

I don’t have a problem with the texture but that’s just because they screen printed them like a stubby holder. Again, I really like them.

CX is pretty ordinary now. Completed 6 of 8 CX J this year and the same. Don’t even have socks! Toothpaste looks like Vasoline but does the job.

They used have mini shaving cream, razor etc…

EK F kits were collectors items.

Not sure what it is, but all the ME carriers load up their J kits with fragrances and stuff I have no use for…

Yeah, I dumped the contents. I also don’t see the attraction to the perfume/cologne, that’s a very personalised thing. Why would you want to smell like every other pax? May as well issue Lynx Africa.

Well, personally I’ve never smelt anyone using the Eau d’toilette on board, certainly not the guys 🤣. I’ve begun to use the moisturisers in flight to help prevent drying out 😳 and I definitely keep and use the lip balm for my outward destinations.

It as I mentioned in a now other thread, I take ithe Eau d’toilette home and give it to various (female) family members and they absolutely love the Dyptique.

But the kids all have their colourful pencil cases, so they wouldn’t be of use to me.

I guess irrespective of actual use, it’s a bit about branding and care. An airline can show they do appreciate their passengers by putting a bit of up-ish market stuff in the amenity kits.

I agree on the new QF amenity kits! I think they’re a great bit of nostalgia!

re the colognes in kits… maybe not for use on board but been several times while overseas where they come in handy when you don’t have your own full-sized bottles with you. They fill the gap for a week away.

QR don’t give our men’s amenity kits? Or are you electing to get the female kit? I wouldn’t know as the two QR flights I did this year did not include any amenity kits (both 4-5 hour flights)

EK have a male and female version and I got the same men’s cologne in both flights I took. Couldn’t tell you what it is.

As for branding, I think QF has actually demonstrated this well with these new kits, they actually do make you think of QF and not generic beige shaving kit. QF may not be the single best but I think it’s definitely above average compared with its peers.
