LATAM Airlines will resume non-stop Sydney-Santiago flights

QF and LA both operate flights and codeshare with each other.

Yes, if you book either with a QF code you’ll earn full SCs and points.
LA and QF's code share agreement is coming to an end from October. LA is pulling it's code off QF's flights. Not sure if QF will do the same, but pricing wise, don't expect the QF-coded LA flights to be cheap.

As per the entry, LA are increasing non-stop services (ditching AKL), so not surprising.

We might actually see QF pricing return to precovid in that case.

Out of interest, was that higher or lower than recent levels?
I’ve paid sub $5k return for SCL on QF. You used to see Sale fares of $4,999 quite often.

Hi, Does LA fly their new seats on their flights ex SYD and MEL? I was checking expert flyer and their seating plans for their 789 for Dec 2026 all have 2-2-2 configurations instead of the new 1-2-1 configuration.

I’ve had both out of Sydney before, back when it still went via Auckland. But if Expertflyer says 2-2-2, then sadly you can only hope for an equipment swap. Which in my experience are much rarer on LATAM than, say, Qatar or similar.

Qantas had Santiago on special in Biz class this month on QF metal it seemed. .

was about to book and then discovered ZERO WIFI for the entire trip. They have gotta be kidding in 2026 to STILL be getting their act together on Wi-Fi on all long hauls.

Did not book. I use it for many hours for business on near all long flights.

I booked it!

Possibly the cheapest I’ve seen post COVID. We were able to book SYD-SCL-AEP//SCL-SYD for not much more than the SCL return fare.

I believe QF should have the 787 fleet kitted and spurred for wifi by mid year. We’re not flying until late 2026.

QF board guys say no way will Wifi be working that fast on the QF metal flights - they dumbly backed the wrong horse and not Starlink it appears, and are now playing catchup with the real world savvy carriers.

Yes I had looked at flights up to Northern Peru, and as you say, little extra cost.

Aren't they going with Viasat?

When I was on Starlux Viasat was great and Cathay's wifi was good as well.

I haven't experienced Starlink yet and I'm sure it's the best but Viasat was much faster than expected.
