I might just be unlucky, but I've just lost my seat selection on qf 52 tonight as the plane has been changed. This is the third out of my last 4 long hauls. It's particularly galling as this ones in economy and I've lost my bulkhead seat.
I should have acted faster, when my seats disappeared, but online check in showed everything was ok last night.

I accept that this stuff happens, but 3 out of 4, and not once was there a phone call from the plat 1 team. Seat selection is important, particularly if you fly a lot and on an overnight flight. Qantas could manage this so much better as I'm starting to feel persecuted!!!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

OJI seems to be making QF51/52 home lately, the extra Y seats must be in demand.

Would not be surprised if you get a beep at the gate being P1, Y is oversold

Hi Canny Man,
I feel your pain!
I have been bumped from an exit row seat out of my last 3 flights, due to plane changes. Tried to even confirm the plane change at the gate and the staff had no idea what is going on. I wish you good luck.

This thing is full... and quite a few staff listed.. got to love school holidays

Slightly OT, but one of my domestic flights last week was changed from a 737-400 to a 737-800 about 4 days prior to the flight. Having a look at seat selection at T-80, every exit row seat was available to me but rows 11 and 12 were almost full. This would indicate to me that quite a few people had pre-allocated exit row seats and had been bumped without realising and changing their seats. As a courtesy thing, might it be a good idea for QF to either reallocate these people in an equivalent seat or to contact them if there is an equipment change??

Couldn't agree more. Nothing worse than for example having 23B on a 767 which gets subbed for a 737. You keep the same seat.... 2nd row from the back in middle.

What needs to happen is everyone gets reallocated again (starting from most important pax/booking classes and working down) with the system automagically trying to give Plat and above shadows by default. A simple script could do this in under 30 seconds..

In the current method, a bronze FF will often end up with a better seat than a high status FF. Nobody wins in that scenario!

Thanks for sharing this. I agree that it's unusual for this to have happened 3/4 times, and have alerted the Platinum One team of the lack of communication on these occasions.

Thanks for the response Red Roo. The on-line seat selection doesnt cope well either as seat disappear.
In the end the story has a happy ending as my wife, daughter and I were upgraded to PE at the airport and had a most pleasant flight back.
