There's an extensive thread on FlyerTalk in the Las Vegas forum that documents people's success at various hotels, so it might be worth having a look there to see if your hotel is one where that practice usually works.

Worked with a $20 yesterday at Aria. Got 'complimentary' upgraded to an awesome high floor strip view room. Money well spent

Worked a treat for us last week, also at the Aria. Tipped the check-in lady $100, 3 rooms, 5 nights and all got upgraded!

Was that $100 presented pre or post the clerk's decision to upgrade you?

I'm at the Palazzo in April with the family. Don't want to risk a scene but I'll have a think about it. Cheers.

If you are in one room it's worth parting with $30. Sounds a bit weird here but it's very very common over there. If they can't find you an upgrade (which I doubt), they can always throw something else in for you eg a fridge etc so you are not really risking anything

Certainly not risking losing any morals .... as you apparently think bribery is OK.
