flying out in September - Mel-AUH-ATHENS in J- am I required to put my laptop into my check-in...AND, if I am forced to do this, should I be concerned.
Am I going to arrive for my stopover in Abu Dhabi and find my laptop still in my suitcase? and then onto Athens?

I have been flying all over the world for years, but always carry my laptop in my carry-on so i'm decidedly nervous of it being out of my hands.

thanks in advance

There are (currently!) no restrictions on laptops in the cabin between Australia and Gulf countries. Onto Europe the same, I think. If there were, you should be concerned about having it in your checked luggage. You can get insurance against theft of electronics from luggage (contrary to what may think).

thanks for the speedy reply-

actually on second thoughts I've decided I will not take my laptop if they impose that restriction and I'm not permitted to take it in my carry on. It would just be too stressful.

It's not an expensive laptop, but the information on it is of utmost importance.

I have everything automatically saved to my Google Cloud- but, the stress and aggravation just would not be worth it.

Take a burner laptop... you can buy a cheap laptop second hand for under $200

I take 2 laptops when I travel for work, one is a coughpy, slow, should have retired years ago laptop and the thing keeps going. Its been in my check in many times and still keeps going. Unless stolen and as long as its well packed, Im ok with laptop in my check in.

I travelled to the US with Etihad recently and the email I received said I could take nothing other than a smartphone. No to tablets, e-readers, and I imagine surface pros.
