Are SQ up to their usual tricks not releasing any awards to *A partners or is there something else at play?

I've been looking at dates well into next year and whilst there is saver space showing on the SQ website, none of the typical *A partners like UA or AC are showing any space on the route I'm looking at (BNE-SIN).

SQ do not release premium award seats to partner on any long-haul routes - only regional.
Sorry should have clarified I was looking mainly at economy but if J seats appear then I'd snap them up instead.

Singapore Airlines has not released any award seats to partner airlines since last year "due to the complexities of enforcing global travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic".

As far as I know, this hasn't changed yet. Hopefully it will soon.

Does anyone know if one can currently redeem KrisFlyer miles for * alliance partners like air India and Thai ?

Yes they can which is rather annoying. In my opinion all the other *A carriers should block SQ from being able to book award flights if SQ isn't letting them.

Dear Henrus , thanks for your very helpful response .
Do you by any chance also know if one can easily travel from oz to bkk via Singapore and SIA without hassles of quarantine in Singapore etc ? TIA

Call them. I've been using Air Canada and United to see what redemption flights are available.

Looking to fly SYD-YUL. Nothing comes up on Krisflyer. Called them today and they found options with United via SFO, ANA via Tokyo, and Air Canada via FRA.

That's good to know. Does this apply for Virgin as well?
I dont know. Virgin's international routes open on Nov 1 so you'll need to wait until then to see what award availability is available. They aren't part of Star but they allow redemption of Air Canada and Delta for example so you can always check availability of their websites and call Velocity to see if you can book flights that don't show up on their system

I can see (limited) SQ Y award availability on the Air Canada, LifeMiles and ANA websites now, e.g. JFK-FRA on 23 March 2022.

There seems to be some changes happening now in the background, which is promising.

Those routes were expected, TPG reported about this a month ago saying that from October they'd reinstate redemptions on the JFK-FRA and SFO-HKG routes only. I wouldn't get excited until some space to/from SIN is released.

Ah. Well that’s disappointing :(

Has anyone found any redemption possibilities on Air Canada using KrisFlyer or Velocity?

Yes, plenty (just not to/from BNE).

See:

Interesting, I was able to find a few J seats on AC by looking at the Virgin website but those same seats do not show up as available to book as star alliance seats on the Singapore website.

Do they show up on the United and/or ANA website?
