LA's current J fares to South America permit the QF operated SYD-BUE codeshare in each direction. Current return fares to Brazil, for example, are under $4000 pre-tax in business the entire journey. With a BA connection BUE-GRU, the LA ticket doesn't even involve any South American carrier.

An identical routing purchased with QF will set you back over $12K. Surely this says something about the true value of the longhaul services which QF refuse to sell for under $10K.

With fares like this, maybe QF's J/F will begin filling up again soon ... they'll just need to wait a while for the codeshare partner reimbursement cheques to arrive.
