KUL luggage question

I am arriving in KUL tomorrow on a MH flight flying J as OWE.

I plan to wait in the Platinum Lounge after arrival as I have friends flying in about 2 hours later. So it makes sense for me to have dinner there and generally just relax until they arrive.

If I check bags in, what happens if I don't claim them at the carousel - will MH fetch and store automatically? I tried this once at CBR when I needed to use the CBR J QF lounge and baggage services told me off and claimed it put me at risk of breaching anti-terror regulations etc.

Otherwise I will aim to take all carry-on.

From memory the way KUL is designed there isn't really a segregation of arrivals and departures areas inside the terminal.
