At different times there are often threads on AFF that wander way way off topic. I am sure many have viewed, or are participating in one such thread at the moment (:!:) .

There are probably times when such threads just scrape through under the watchful eye of the mods. However, over on FT , in many forums there is a vastly difft approach, often I follow threads there, and when one goes slightest bit OT (despite some linkage and entirely reasonable discussion) - wham - on goes the lock and end of discussion (perhaps not on QF Forum though!). Different boards different rules.

Nevertheless, I think the mods here deserve credit for a great job, being alert to abusive posts, and posts that break the rules, but not being over zealous in shutting off threads because they wander all over the place.

Big thank you for the job you are doing and for allowing AFF to be interesting and times very amusing!

Totally agree with what you have said.

Nothing wrong with a thread going off topic as long as posts are not abusive or insult others.

Tell me once where that's happened! :p
I agree once would not be enough.
Why we have even had penguins quacking on here-is that OT enough.
Seriously the general atmosphere of this site is what keeps me coming back each day.

I think it's as much an indication of the quality and civility of posters here on AFF as much as anything - not that the mods do a bad job either! Pats on the back all 'round!

hear, hear. (sic)

Even better when the mods disagree amongst themselves methinks, then it's a very robust discussion! (with plenty of opportunities to learn new tricks :))

+1 to those sentiments in the OP.

The mods are also good at sifting off the chaff and giving it a new thread when required.

I tend to use Flyertalk very little, as it can take a lot of sorting to find the info required. It's much more manageable here.
