Hey all,

I have some expiring points, around 78,000 points.

I either extend, and hope I book something by the end of the year or I transfer to VFF.

What would you do? It seems like I am losing a fair percentage when transferring and it pains me :(

I got semi lucky with Covid, I had 450,000 pts expiring and they got extended for free and I used a lot of them. However now with a new job, I am not sure about booking without putting in leave, is it safer to just transfer to VFF and take the loss?

I am just thinking if I extend, am I still on top even if I transfer later on? Singapore reward flights are much easier to find, and lower taxes vs VFF.

Thank you

You could always book a trip on SQ with it. A holiday to Singapore or wherever you want to go a year out from now, there should be Saver availability in all classes except First/Suites, you just need to be flexible with dates.

There should be more or less no reason why a manager would reject leave with this much notice, but rule of thumb with any workplace - never book a holiday until your leave is approved in writing. It is not worth the stress in admin and change fees in the off chance you book first and manager declines it for whatever reason.

Yeah, my only concern is because it's a new position.

I was thinking I could manage to get J fare one way to Singapore and/or onto BKK included or something.

I think left over points I can convert to GC in Australia? I may have 20,000 left over, unless I wanted to transfer VFF to Krisflyer for a return flight.
