My husband and I are flying SQ business class to Budapest (river cruise) and I am wondering is it better to use SQ kris flyer or Virgin FF (even though I will get less points ) as I fly Virgin more than SQ and it will build my status with Virgin?

I have moved this post into its own thread, and deleted duplicate posts asking the same question. I realise it can be frustrating when no one replies to a question, but multiple posts asking the same thing is unnecessary.

I suspect you will be better off with Velocity but remember that flights on non-SQ metal even if they have an SQ number wont credit to VFF.
Eg PER-SIN-FRA-BUD will earn 240 VA SC pp each way but nil on FRA-BUD as it will be operated by Lufthansa
PER-SIN-IST-BUD will earn 240 pp ew too but nil for the IST-BUD as it is on Turkish
Assuming you are not routing PER-SIN-BKK-FRA-BUD with last 2 legs on Lufthansa

You can usually change your FF number for the final leg in the lounge. This is even more important on the return trip

With VFF and family pooling you are virtually at Plat on 1 trip (having said that you'd still need 8 VA sectors so may be easier both Gold)
With KF you would both be Silver (though within striking distance of Gold)

Unless you intend to fly a lot on Star Alliance, I'd go with VFF. You will make up any lost points with the Status multiplier on future VA flights
