Is there a tool to identify what your aircraft will be in advance with QF (subject to the usual caveats of operational changes etc).

In my case, QF757 DRW-ADL tomorrow (11/03/15). It's work travel and I'm therefore in whY. I've looked at the aircraft used for the past week: VXE, VZU, VXT, VYC, VXS, VYF, VXO and cross checked the Qantas Source and 2/7 have IFE.

Anyway to know in advance if I'll get a movie of if I should take an extra book? It's hardly the end of the world, but if there's a way to know, that'd be cool.

PS. I did a search before posting and couldn't find anything so Mods if there is a thread about this feel free to combine it.

Unless you know someone in the know, the answer is no.
Some routes you may be able to guess based on patterns, but with the number of 737's in the fleet it isn't so easy.

It's not generally possible to know for sure. Unfortunately there is no quirk on the seat map or anything like that. In the case of your flight, the aircraft operating QF757 normally arrives from ADL as QF754 so if you can check using Flight Radar or a site like it which aircraft is operating QF754 that morning, you should be able to work it out. But nothing's ever guaranteed.

I see that you ended up getting a new aircraft with IFE. Great.

Thanks Mattg and others. This was the method I used to work it out. IFE outbound and none inbound.

But alternative entertainment was provided by the customer across the aisle who did a terrific DYKWIA performance. His boss was in J and he was not happy with row 4.

Who needs movies when there's a floor show eh?
