Hi all

Just wondering what the chances of retaining my WP status with VA are...

I have WP status from the QF matching exercise last year, with a review date of 19 Sep. By that date I will have 610 SCs, several sandwiches short of the WP picnic hamper. Most of my SCs were earned since July when I changed jobs from completely earthbound:mad: to one that had plenty of flying:cool:.

I have further bookings that will give me 150 SCs 26 Sep and a further 150 in Nov, with another 150-200 - depending on airfares and how rich I feel - to be booked in Dec. My travel pattern to continue like this for at least the next 18 months or so. At this rate I expect to requal WP in the first half of next year. Velocity is really working for me in getting to/from the Middle East, unlike OW; I may yet become a fanboy.

Just wondering if there was value in sending a begging letter to someone (whom?) to avoid getting bumped down to SG and requalifying WP next year???

Cheers skip, the ever hopeful.

Given the number of double SC promotions, and special 'fly' offers, I would hope not.

However I think with Velocity that when you drop down you are then on a rolling 12-month total system, so you may well be over 1000 in December, in which case you would get bumped back to WP and a new year would start.

Mrsdrron did get an offer to retain plat by taking 1 return J flight if booked in the next week. The day after that time limit expired they had a sale.To spend more than $1000 just didn't seem worth it.

I'm sitting on my return leg LAX-SFO in "F" right now, it's still August 17th here, hoping it will still count as I received the same offer....

So you already have bookings to be at 760/800 SC's in WP requalification a week after your review date.

There have been some reports a call to velocity in similar circumstances has had a favorable outcome - some may mirror your situation.

See here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....a-velocity/near-enough-good-enough-39001.html

Is the any chance of you earning an additional 40 SC's in the mean time - such may help.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

So near and yet so far. Unfortunately I'm going to have trouble fitting it in. If I don't spend enough time with Mrs Pineapple, who has a vast array of domestic chores awaiting me, my spouse status credits will reset to zero:shock: - a fate worse than death. I may have to settle for a fresh set of WP bagtags early next year.

Take her with you, say to SYD for lunch - family pool the SC's to yon account and there's an easy 40 from BNE ... 10 each, each way ...

Good plan serfty. Fitted in a trip MCY-SYD rt. Only expensive flex on the way back in Y so I booked J for 50 SCs each... and more spouse SCs!

Cheers skip

Update: Still in limbo, but looks vaguely promising. 5 days after my review date (19 Sep) I now have 660 SCs with another 150 in bookings for later this week. I didn't ring anybody up because I was curious what would happen in the normal course of events. My profile indicates I have been given an extension of sorts:

We are currently assessing your activity over your membership year. You will still have access to your current benefits until 19 Oct 2012. Your new card will be with you shortly.

I can imagine they would need to do this a bit: a big proportion of SCs was off recent SQ flights in J where I understand velocity have no record of the booking until the credits come through. Others would be in similar positions.

There is a massive thread on this that might be helpful to read :) and some members are getting DJ plat with only 90SC so I think you are home and hosed ;)

It was around 2 1/2 weeks of 'limbo' for me. The card took another few days. Time from 'end of year' to having new card in my hands: just over 3 weeks.

Be patient, it'll happen shortly.
